Exhibitions to see – My plan for Feb/May 16

28 May 2016: I planned 8 visits to museums and galleries. I missed 2 of them. But I am satisfied with my done visits. I have to see how can continue with my 2 / month plan.

  • Kunstmuseum Basel, CH-Basel (September 12, 2015 – March 13, 2016)
    Cy Twombly (1928 – 2011) – Painting & Sculpture
=> From my contextual research during D1 I was always fascinated by Twombly’s intimate approach
=> I missed it due to time constraints

  • Galorie Kornfeld, CH-Bern (January 16 – February 20, 2016)
artists on show: Xerxes Ach, Com&Com, Pascal Danz, Sam Francis, Silvia Gertsch, Rolf Iseli, Shirley Jaffe, Al Jensen, Alois Lichtsteiner, Albrecht Schnider, Kimber Smith, Dominik Stauch)
=> I do see this as a good starting point for PoP1
=> Done, see my weblog post February 2016 – click here

  • Museum Tingly, Ch-Basel (February 12 – May 16, 2016)
PRIÈRE DE TOUCHER – The Touch of Art
artists on show: Kader Attia, Agostino and Ludovico Caracci, unknown after Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, Adriaen Collaert after Marten de Vos, Christian Comte, Cornelis Cort after Giulio Clovio as well as Frans Floris, Cornelis Jacobsz, Drebbel after Hendrick Goltzius, Renate Eisenegger, Loïe Fuller, Jacob van der Heyden, Birgit Jürgenssen, Michael Landy, Étienne-Jules Marey, Vaslav Nijinsky, Meret Oppenheim, Peter Overadt, Crispijn de Passe the Elder, Georg Pencz, Marcantonio Raimondi after Albrecht Dürer, Thomas Rentmeister, Jan Saenredam after Hendrick Goltzius, Annegret Soltau, Timm Ulrichs, Alexandre Vallée, Mary Wigman, Martha Wilson, and Francesca Woodman
=> I am relating this to my personal project started in D1
=> Done, see my weblog post March 2016 – click here

  • Kunsthaus Zurich, CH-Zurich (Feb 5 – May 1, 2016)
    Dadaglobe Reconstructed
=> Dadaism as the truly swiss contribution to art history. This is just on part of full program going on right now in Zurich. The city is going mad about it.
=> I didn’t for time reasons but also due to other focus. I will go for the the retrospective of Francis Picabia (1879 – 1953) in same museum (Jun 03 – Sep 25, 2016)

  • Foundation Beveler, CH-Basel (January 31- May 8, 2016)Jean Dubuffet (1901 – 1985) – Metamorphoses of Landscape
=> The first large-scale Jean Dubuffet retrospective in Switzerland this century. A founder of l’Art Brut (outsider art). Showing interest in the art of the mentally ill. For me so important to see as Dubuffet was right at the center of modern art with Dadaism, Constructivism, and Art Brut. In CH-Lausanne there is a permanent exhibition on l’Art Brut, marking this month the 40th anniversary of the collection (http://www.artbrut.ch/en/21016/49/next-exhibitions/jean-dubuffet–s-art-brut–the-origins-of-the-collection—5-march-thru-28-august-2016)
=> Done, see my  weblog post May 2016 – click here
